Abstract Painting: Gerhard Richter
The best thing I've done in the recent past is lose myself in painting. I enjoyed the freedom from limitation and room for experimentation in making and un-making/ destroying color combinations. I didn't realize that Gerhard Richter was a huge influence for me until I discovered his work.. The way he speaks about painting makes me feel like I've tapped into the Akashic Record of painting and color. The feeling and the color wants to come to life and I am simply the medium to let it flow. I never know exactly what I have to say until I sit down and listen to what my art wants to show me. Lost in the Silence: Tensnake Stimulate
From an early age I can remember my mom blasting her vinyl collection, especially in rough times. Music could always deliver us from whatever pain we were feeling, even if temporarily. My dad also (former bass player in the 70's and 80's for Eddie Money before Money's big hits) taught me "part of the bass is silence". The rave scene also gave me the experience of the whole room in communication and surrendering to where the music would take us in those moments of inner silence. So I love that this Tensnake album was created at a time the world was experiencing the silence of the pandemic and the angst of lockdown. Maybe that's why the tunes deliver me to a place of deep inner communication and a dream-state like memory of losing myself to the rhythm. Light Up the Dancefloor: dbleudazzled
Though Destiney Bleu and I have not yet met, her designs embody the way I want to feel on the dancefloor. This look was for going out to see Mark Knight at Spin In San Diego. Paired with my favorite Ritratti Diamond Bra, edits made using Affinity Filters. While I dance to please myself, I love the escapism that comes from being able to lift up the vibe of those around me and receive that light back, so the ability of Destiney's designs to reflect and transmit light truly adds to the experience.
